Precision Power-Analyzer: LTTsmart

The LTTsmart power analyzer is a development of our precise measurement devices for rapid three-phase current / voltage measurement. In a top-hat rail housing, it is ideal for the use in industrial environments.

The Power-Analyzer

With its high measurement accuracy and high prezision power anlyse, the power analyzer is optimally suited for the development of electromobility.

The LTTsmart power analyzer in the aluminum housing consists of one module with two channels each and can be flexibly extended by several modules. The two channels of a module can be optionally equipped with 1000 Vrms and 10 Volt (power analyzer light) or 1000Vrms and 1000Vrms (power analyzer) high voltage input option with banana plug.

The connection to the PC is located in a separate base module.

The power analyser is also available as a portable version with handles and in a 19" housing up to 32 channels.

Important facts:

  • up to 4 MHz sampling rate per channel
  • 1.7 MHz bandwidth
  • extremely high precision: 0.015%*signal + 0.015%*range
  • 24 bit A/D converter - extremely low noise and distortion free
  •  highly synchronous up to 16 channels per device as well as multiple devices
  • 2500 VDC galvanic isolation of all channels
  • perfectly fulfills the requirements of DIN IEC 60034-2-3-3
  • voltage and current inputs: up to ±1000 Vrms
  • optionally ICP®, charge, strain gauge and/or pulse
  • compact and robust for operation near inverters

The LTTsmart as a power analyzer is perfectly suited for use in power analysis of batteries, inverter signals on battery-powered electric motors  or photovoltaic, in the field of OEM test bench construction, aircraft power systems or for power quality measurement.

How the power analyzer works

The advantage of the Power Analyzer is the perfect measurement chain from the precise preamplifier, the real-time data transmission to the PC, up to the real-time analysis of the data.

LTTpro software for power measurement

The software option "LTTpro Power Analyzer", specially developed for the LTTsmart, offers in interaction a high-performance electrical power measurement perfectly designed for modern electric drives at changing speeds. The LTTsmart uses highly optimised algorithms to determine and display the exact revolution cycles even from highly noisy phase current sinusoidal curves. In addition to all the usual performance data (rms values, reactive/apparent/active powers, power factors, speed, efficiency, ...), the distortions (THD = Total Harmonic Distortion) of all phase currents and voltages are also continuously determined and displayed. Calculations on a half-cycle basis and averaging over several cycles are also possible.

The parallel view of raw data and calculated Power Analyzer data immediately reveals the causes behind any abnormalities in the key performance indicators.

At the push of a button or via configurable trigger events, entire raw data time windows can be saved with the corresponding calculated Power Analyzer key figures, while the continuous power calculation simply continues.

The compact LTTsmart systems can be operated mobile not only in the test bench but also conveniently directly in the vehicle. In addition, the software can also display, analyse and forward previously recorded or emulated data, so that all requirements around driving cycles, vehicle testing, production monitoring, development and optimisation are covered.

The LTT hardware and software package thus offers an efficient solution for measuring the performance of an e-motor in the test field and in real-world use.
